Yesterday, HoneyBook was picked by OpenAI as one of sixteen tools in the new Small Business collection in ChatGPT, alongside Stripe, Shopify, Slack, Canva, Dropbox and Docusign, a collection built for the people who run the whole business themselves. A huge thank you to the OpenAI team for featuring HoneyBook.

You can now connect your HoneyBook account to ChatGPT, and once you do, ChatGPT answers from your actual account instead of from general advice, giving you real insights and helping you act on your business. Here is what it does, and why we built it.

The problem we were solving

If you run a business of one, your business lives on islands. The inquiries are in one place, the contracts in another, payments in a third, and the full picture exists only in your head. ChatGPT has become the place many of you plan, write, and think. But, it couldn't reach any of those islands. Every conversation started with you explaining your own business to it. It could talk about businesses like yours all day; it couldn't tell you whether the Hendersons paid.

The answers live in HoneyBook. The first inquiry, the proposal that went out, the contract that came back signed, the questionnaire where a couple listed every special request. So we connected the two.

What you can ask

Once connected, ChatGPT answers from your actual account. What's overdue. Who's on this week's schedule. Where things stand with a specific client. Which of your new leads are worth answering first.

And because it can see across all your projects, it can answer questions no single screen in any tool answers. Ask "I've shot at this venue before… what worked?" and it pulls from that past project. Ask "which months do I usually get my best leads?" and you get your own seasonality, not an industry article. Ask whether you should raise your prices, and instead of generic advice you get your last season's bookings, what they averaged, and what the highest one was.

What it can do

It's not just lookups. Say five inquiries came in overnight and two want the same date. It flags the conflict, tells you which asked first, and offers to draft replies to all five. All in your style, from your account. It can build a lead form for your website, create a proposal, invoice, or contract from your own templates with your pricing, add a contact the moment you meet someone, or raise a payment request when something's overdue.

My favorite one is the least glamorous: prep. Ask "Sarah's wedding is tomorrow, anything to keep in mind?" and it pulls her questionnaire: the dog in the group shot, grandma needs it kept short. The details you collected months ago, back exactly when you need them in seconds.

One rule we didn't budge on

Everything the AI builds lands as a draft. Nothing sends, changes, or goes out until you've reviewed and approved it. When you connect, you choose exactly which parts of HoneyBook ChatGPT can reach (nothing is handed over by default) and you can disconnect any time from your ChatGPT settings without touching your HoneyBook account.

How to connect

Two clicks: find the HoneyBook plugin in ChatGPT's connector settings, sign in, approve the permissions screen. As we add capabilities to HoneyBook, they become reachable through the same connection, so you have nothing to update or reconnect.

ChatGPT for SMBs

HoneyBook's whole belief is that success should be defined by your ambition, not the size of your team. In practice, that has always meant one person carrying what used to take a back office: the tracking, the chasing, the remembering. This connection is that belief made very concrete - the entire operational memory of your business, answering to you, in the place you already think out loud.

Most AI tools are still built for companies with departments. If you're the whole company, the person selling, the person doing the work, and the person chasing the invoice afterward, not much of it has been built for you.

OpenAI is one of the few taking that seriously. Today they launched a Small Business collection in ChatGPT, a set of plugins picked for people who run the business themselves. HoneyBook is one of them. See the collection

Go try it and tell us what you asked first. That's genuinely the most useful feedback we can get.
